CREATIVE DIRECTION / UXUI
Ball Maps is an interactive spatial platform designed to transform complex athletic and geographical data into intuitive visual experiences. As the Creative Director and UX/UI Designer, I led this project from its initial spark navigating through discovery, brand architecture, and high-fidelity product design, all the way to handoff and successful deployment.
Ideation & Discovery
Every great product starts with a gap in the market. The vision for Ball Maps was born out of a desire to rethink how spatial and athletic data intersect. The goal was simple yet ambitious: create an intuitive, visually engaging platform that translates complex geographical or athletic mapping data into something accessible, beautiful, and highly functional for the end user. Early stages involved deep competitive analysis, user persona definition, and outlining the core feature sets required to make the platform stand out.
CONCEPTING & ART DIRECTION
Transitioning from abstract ideas to a concrete vision, the concepting phase was all about defining the visual language and brand identity. As the Creative Director, I led the exploration of color theory, typography, and minimalist design patterns to ensure the interface felt both modern and authoritative. We focused heavily on low-fidelity wireframing and mood-boarding to establish a clean aesthetic that prioritizes data clarity without sacrificing emotional appeal.

UX/UI DESIGN & PROTOTYPING
With a solid conceptual foundation, I moved into high-fidelity UI design and interactive prototyping. The UX challenge was balancing data density with seamless usability. Mapped out frictionless navigation paths to ensure users could access deep map data in fewer than three clicks. Designed custom interactive map components, responsive data dashboards, and dynamic filtering systems. Iterated closely based on interactive prototype testing, refining micro-interactions, touch targets, and visual hierarchies to optimize the mobile and desktop experience.
Bringing Ball Maps from an abstract concept to a fully realized, live digital product was an incredible exercise in balancing heavy data architecture with minimalist aesthetic design. Taking end-to-end ownership allowed me to ensure that the initial user experience goals remained uncompromised all the way through to deployment. The result is a highly functional, beautiful mapping tool that solves a genuine user need, providing a solid, scalable framework for future spatial data features.
